π Volunteering Hours
Anime For Humanity's goal is to provide a flexible, and productive environment where you can do your best work sustainably. Most of our volunteers have jobs (working from home mostly) or school during the day. You have the responsibility to find out what rhythm works for you best, to be at your best. Simply because we believe not everybody works the same way. So do you have the rhythm which works best for you?
Refer to the General Policies for your weekly hours commitment and to track your hours go to Slack to learn more.
πΌ Tasks & Duties
We don't like rules, but focusing on finishing tasks is very important. You are the boss of your agenda and you are in charge of when your shift will start and end. All we ask from volunteers is to fulfillΒ their duties with integrity, honesty, openness and willing to operate as a team player.
π Security
We care about security. So, whenever possible: use two-factor authentication! As for the Anime For Humanity Logins, you will receive a passwords via HR.
π€ Collaboration
Employees shouldΒ be friendly and collaborative.Β They should try not to disrupt the workplace or present obstacles to their colleaguesβ work.
π Dress Code
During your volunteering hours: Get comfy... let's leave it at that. If you are a guest at a livestream or a video podcast, rock that Ki-Chan merch!
π¬ Communication
We use Slack for internal communication. This gives us all the ability to stalk each other,Β use GIFs, work on Slack-bots, etc. etc. It comes as a web app, iOS, Android, OSX and Windows.
To best maintain our workflow, a new volunteer will take over your role if you are/will be inactive for over 21 days regardless of your rank at Anime For Humanity. Returning back to your previous volunteering role will be on a case-by-case basis.
π Conference Calls

Conference calls can be great for different purposes. The more volunteers are able to communicate, the better they will be able to work together to accomplish goals, develop skills, and give/receive feedback.
As a volunteered based charity, it takes a lot of planning to hold a meeting due to everyone's different time zones and life events. Holding unnecessary meetings can be a pain in the butt when:
- THERE IS NO PROGRESS SINCE THE LAST MEETING
- GETTING FEEDBACK ON A SMALL MATTER
- STATUS UPDATES DONβT REQUIRE ACTION
- NO CLEAR GOALS OR OUTCOMES
We have made meetings very flexible for every volunteer to attend but not all communications require a meeting β sometimes a slack message is all you need to update your team.

π οΈΒ Tools & Apps
π Holidays & Requesting Time Off
Time off is about the time you need, not about a quota. All you have to do is let your team know and update your Slack status. This way we have a handy overview of who is off and when. You will learn more about Slack and bots in the Apps & tools section.
Holidays and National Holidays:

Of course, we ainβt all workaholics! On average we have 8 national holidays per year which doesn't make sense! Anime For Humanity volunteers are all diverse with different backgrounds, ethnicities and religious believes. That said, you decide when to take your days off.
Sick Days:

Tough luck! Get over it! No, we care for each other so we will feel sorry for you. Get back to work when you are fully recovered. Donβt feel guilty about it (easier said than done, we know). Yes we will miss you, and everyone is willing to help out until you come back. Make some tea, binge-watch anime and get all the rest you need.
Life happens/Mental health Days:

You feel depressed lately, you lost a loved one, you need time for yourself, your car broke, you move to another city, you have midterms soon, you get married or have kids. Life events which all need your attention.
For this reason, we have created the volunteer Inactive Role so you can opt out anytime to focus on YOU without worrying about the Anime For Humanity To-do's.
We are not going to decide for you how much time you get for certain events. The question is: how much time do you actually need. We ask that you don't opt back in until you know for certain that you are ready and feeling better πͺ
Β
Letβs talk about stress. Too much stress. We know this can be a topic. Balancing your work/school life with Anime For Humanity can be stressful at times. So letβs get this conversation going.
